The Opportunity

We’re seeking a Lead Python Engineer to spearhead the backend modernization of a large-scale Insurance Policy & Claims Management platform.
In this role, you’ll lead the migration from PHP/Laravel to a modern Python-based architecture, collaborating closely with both the client’s technical team and our internal engineers.
This is a hands-on leadership position ideal for a senior engineer who thrives on solving deep technical challenges and building trusted client relationships.

Key Responsibilities
Technical Leadership

Lead the migration of backend services from PHP/Laravel to Python.
Architect, design, and implement scalable APIs for a React/TypeScript frontend.
Define the technical roadmap and transition plan for legacy systems.
Ensure seamless data migration, API compatibility, and zero downtime during rollout.

Client Engagement

Serve as the primary technical point of contact for the client’s engineering team.
Participate in client meetings to discuss progress, blockers, and next steps.
Clearly communicate complex technical concepts to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
Collaborate with client leadership on architectural decisions, timelines, and milestones.

Development & Integration

Build and maintain backend services using FastAPI, Django, or Flask.
Collaborate with frontend teams to deliver seamless end-to-end integration.
Implement authentication, authorization, and data validation middleware.
Contribute to CI/CD pipelines, testing, and deployment automation.

What You’ll Bring

Core Skills
7+ years of hands-on Python development experience with modern frameworks (FastAPI, Django, Flask).
Strong database expertise in PostgreSQL, MySQL, or MongoDB.
Proven experience in designing and maintaining RESTful APIs.
Familiarity with testing frameworks (pytest, unittest) and CI/CD best practices.

Prior experience leading migration or large-scale refactoring projects.

Client-Facing Experience
Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
Experience working directly with clients or external engineering teams.
Ability to translate business objectives into actionable technical plans.

Bonus Points
Background in insurance, fintech, or other regulated domains.
Experience with cloud platforms (AWS, GCP, Azure) and container technologies (Docker, Kubernetes).
Knowledge of asynchronous programming, message queues, or microservices architecture.
